bismillah

Walaqad atayna luqmana alhikmata ani oshkur lillahi waman yashkur fainnama yashkuru linafsihi waman kafara fainna Allaha ghaniyyun hameed(un)

And assuredly We-SWT vouchsafed wisdom to Luqman saying: Give thanks to Allah-SWT , and whoever gives thanks, gives thanks for his soul; and whoever is unthankful – then verily Allah-SWT is Self-Sufficient, Praise Worthy.

(31:12)

Waith qala luqmanu li(i)bnihi wahuwa yaAAithuhu ya bunayya la tushrik bi(A)llahi inna a(l)shshirka lathulmun AAatheem(un)

And re-call when Luqman said to his son while he was exhorting him: O my son! Associate not anything with Allah-SWT ; verily this associating is a tremendous wrong.

(31:13)

Wawassayna alinsana biwalidayhi hamalathu ommuhu wahnan AAala wahnin wafisaluhu fee AAamayni ani oshkur lee waliwalidayka ilayya almaseer(u)

And We-SWT have enjoined upon man concerning his parents – his mother bears him, in hardship upon hardship, and his weaning is in two years, give thanks to Me-SWT and to your parents: unto Me-SWT is the goal.

(31:14)

Wain jahadaka AAala an tushrika bee ma laysa laka bihi AAilmun fala tutiAAhuma wasahibhuma fee a(l)ddunya maAAroofan wa(i)ttabiAA sabeela man anaba ilayya thumma ilayya marjiAAukum faonabbiokum bima kuntum taAAmaloon(a)

And if the twain strive to make you associate with Me-SWT that whereof you have no knowledge, then obey them not. And keep them honourable company in this world reputably and follow you the path of him who turns to Me-SWT penitently. Then to Me-SWT is your return, and I shall declare to you what you have been working.

(31:15)

Ya bunayya innaha in taku mithqala habbatin min khardalin fatakun fee sakhratin aw fee a(l)ssamawati aw fee alardi yati biha Allahu inna Allaha lateefun khabeer(un)

Son! Though it be but of the weight of a grain of mustard-seed and though it be in a rock, or in the heavens, or in the earth, Allah-SWT shall bring it forth; verily Allah-SWT is Subtle, Aware.

(31:16)

Ya bunayya aqimi a(l)ssalata wamur bi(a)lmaAAroofi wa(i)nha AAani almunkari wa(i)sbir AAala ma asabaka inna thalika min AAazmi alomoor(i)

Son! Establish the Salaat and so what is reputable and forbid iniquity, and bear patiently whatever may befall you; verily that is of the firmness of affairs.

(31:17)

Wala tusaAAAAir khaddaka li(l)nnasi wala tamshi fee alardi marahan inna Allaha la yuhibbu kulla mukhtalin fakhoor(in)

And turn not your cheek from men, nor walk on the earth stiflingly; verily Allah-SWT does not approve any vainglorious boaster.

(31:18)

Wa(i)qsid fee mashyika wa(o)ghdud min sawtika inna ankara alaswati lasawtu alhameer(i)

And be you modest in your gait and lower your voice; verily the most abominable of voices is the voice of the ass.

(31:19)

In The Name of Allah-SWT the Most Gracious, The Most Merciful
SECRETS OF REVELATION:

Wisdom And Luqman

Undoubtedly Luqman was blessed with wisdom so that he may be grateful to Allah-SWT . Whoever displays gratitude does it to his own benefit, for He-SWT is Independent and the Owner of excellence, carefree of any gratitude.

According to the learned scholars Hadhrat Luqman was a Wali Allah. He was a Negro contemporary of Prophet Ayub-AS who lived long enough to see the era of Prophet Daud-AS too. The word Hikmah (wisdom) has been given numerous interpretations by the scholars; for example, knowledge, intellect, sagacity, graciousness and the capacity to do good. However, all these are essentially names of the same thing. Blessing of the wisdom means the knowledge of Allah-SWT’s Will and Purpose, complemented with the capacity to act accordingly. It is generally known as ‘Ilm-e-Ludni. This knowledge is endowed upon certain Aulia without any formal education, whereby they can dilate upon such topics to the benefit of even the learned scholars. Syed ‘Adbdul ‘Aziz Dabagh-RUA was a symbolic personality blessed with wisdom. His-RUA sayings can be seen in his celebrated work Al-Abraiz.

Correct Beliefs

Giving his son a very wise advice, Luqman said: O my beloved son! Do not ever indulge in polytheism as it is a grave transgression. In other words, correct beliefs are the foundation of all goodness otherwise it is foolish to expect any merit in practices.

Kind Treatment To Parents

The foremost moral obligation of a person is to treat his parents kindly, affectionately and respectfully. A mother goes through the agony of gestation period and birth. She then nurses her baby for two years, while father bears the burden of expenses for birth. So the parents enjoy a great right over their children and serving them is a way of showing gratitude to Allah-SWT , as eventually everyone has to return and stand before Him-SWT . Nevertheless, if the parents command their children to disobey Allah-SWT or ascribe partners to Him-SWT , they must not obey them. But still they deserve to be served and looked after even if they are non believers. And one must conform to the ways of those who follow the Path of Allah-SWT and seek His-SWT nearness, as all have to ultimately return to His-SWT Court for accountability.

Parents Have No Right To Impede Allah-SWT ’s Obedience

It is clear that parents do not have the right to stop their children from Allah-SWT’s obedience. They cannot forbid them from His-SWT Zikr or association with the Aulia’. But even if they do, they will still be entitled to due respect. Non compliance of such instructions will, however, not amount to disobedience, as they do not have the right to impede their children from the path of piety.

The Atom

And Luqman said: O’ son! Nothing is concealed from Allah-SWT , not even the most minute particle inside a rock (that is the atom, now discovered by science) nor anything that lies with in the heavens. Everything will be gathered in His-SWT Exalted Court and He-SWT is well Aware of the most minute of things.

Importance Of Worships

O’ my beloved son! Do put in your best to worship Allah-SWT . And carefully observe the timings, rites and tenets of all worships. To a commoner these may appear a waste of time but the fact is that in a believer’s life worships are like the air he breathes. Just as we do not cease to breathe in the air no matter what our engagements are, similarly the obligatory worships offered on time and constant Zikr Allah-SWT are like oxygen in the Islamic way of life.

Jihad Forever

And enjoin virtue, that is, exert all efforts in the promotion of Islam, which is the fountainhead of all virtue and piety. And constantly strive to impede the spread of infidelity, polytheism and evil. It’s because a believer is always in a state of Jihad-verbally, through writing, practically and inwardly. Hardships and challenges are natural in this path of truth. So O Son! Whatever the hardships, be patient and steadfast, as firmness on this Path itself is a great achievement.

Be Firm Towards Infidelity But Not Arrogant

And if Allah-SWT grants you the capacity to stand fast on Deen and live with honour and courage, do not ever become conceited. It is not proper to turn away from people in arrogance. And do not walk on Allah-SWT’s land stiff-necked lest the firmness against infidelity develop into arrogance, for Allah-SWT does not like those who are vane about themselves. Maintain a gracious balance in your gait, and be solemn and serious in speech, for raising voice to impose ones opinion on others and being rowdy is not appropriate way of conversation. Even a donkey can make a noise, yet its braying is most repugnant.
